A4 Signed Art Print – “Can I Trust You?” by Mikayla Mary

“Can I Trust You?” is the second piece in Mikayla Mary’s art as activism series exploring the lived reality of sexualised violence through expressive arts. In this compelling scene, a young woman and a bear stand face-to-face held in a moment of stillness, uncertainty and truth.

Inspired by the viral question, “Would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or with a man?”, this piece challenges us to confront the unsettling reality that for many women, the wild feels safer than the familiar. The bear (often seen as dangerous) becomes a symbol of something more trustworthy than the human threat too many have experienced.

This artwork speaks to betrayal, survival and the deep fracture of trust. It invites reflection on what safety really means in a world where one in two women in Aotearoa will experience some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime. “Can I Trust You?” holds space for both heartbreak and truth, demanding we reckon with the structures that have failed to protect.

Each A4 print is professionally printed and hand-signed by Mikayla, carrying the weight of these questions and the quiet power of visibility.

📜 A4 size
🖋️ Hand-signed by Mikayla Mary
🎨 Professionally printed
💫 Ideal for framing or sacred space decoration

Let this piece stir reflection and honour the voices of those who have learned to navigate the world with caution, courage and clarity.
